Age limit

Students' ages range from 14 up to 40. We select musicians based on talents and passion, so ages do not matter.

Levels

This festival is designed for students majoring in music or equivalent.

Recording

Submit your recording(s) of 2 contrasting pieces in your online application form. It should not be longer than 10 minutes. 

Application

Deadline & Fee

Fill out an online application form and pay $0 fee by 11:59 pm (PST) of February 28, and pay $60 fee afterwards.

Program Fees

  • Application Fee: $60

  • Residential Program: $2000

    • Includes: all lessons and classes, housing, meals on site

    • Does not include: flight, transportation, travel/medical insurance, sightseeing activities

General Questions

Where is Jeju Violin Festival held? 

The residential program will be held at Springdale CC in Seogwipo, Jeju. The resort is located near the Halla trail and cypress forest. Each room has two single beds, TV, mini-fridge, dryer, towels, sink and electric cooktop.

Application Process 

When is the application deadline? 

For you to be considered for scholarship, you must apply by 11:59 pm, March 31st (Pacific Time). Early application is encouraged for application fee for $60 is waived until 11:59 pm, February 28th (Pacific Time). We will continue to welcome applications after March 31st as space permits. 

When will I receive my admission decision?

If you apply by February 28 (Round 1), you will hear your admission decision by March 15th. If you apply after February 28,  you'll hear the decision within two weeks. Those who do not get admitted in the Round 1will automatically get deferred to Round 2.

 

Participant Life

What is the minimum age to attend the program? 

There are no set age limits, but participants should be old enough to stay a week away from their guardians. Participants younger than 14 may be asked for an interview. 

Can I commute? 

It is encouraged for all participants to stay on site to take full advantage of the program (networking with friends and teachers, intensive practice, better flow of schedule). However, if you are a resident in Jeju, you can opt out of the housing option and have $400 room fee waived).

Travel to Jeju

How do I book my flight? 

If you are traveling from the US or Europe, then you can book an international flight to Incheon International airport (ICN) and transfer to a domestic flight from Gimpo airport (GMP) to Jeju International Airport (CJU). Please allow yourself about 3 hours to move from ICN to GMP. 

If you are traveling from China, Japan, Hong Kong, or nearby Asian countries, you can book a direct international flight to Jeju International Airport (CJU). 

How do I get to the program site? 

How do I get to the program site? 

Once you arrive at the Jeju International Airport, you can take a taxi to Springdale CC in Namwon or our shuttle ride at 1pm from Jeju Airport.
